THE IMMERSIVE INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCE

"Darcy Gerbarg’s Painting and Sculpture Garden, in AltspaceVR can be experienced by up to 30 people at a time, using their PC, MAC, or VR Headsets.  Each visitor creates their own customized Avatar before beginning their visit to Gerbarg’s artistic VR world.

"Darcy Gerbarg has long been established as one of the leading pioneers in the digital arts field. In this exhibition, Gerbarg continues to push the limits of digital technology in her latest group of billboard-size paintings and large-scale sculptures on view in her VR Art Gallery. Imagine not just visiting an art space but instead being transported to it. Enabled by AR/VR, Darcy Gerbarg’s recent digital artworks make this exhilarating experience possible. Captivated viewers take advantage of their bird’s eye perspective by flying above and through the big bold swathes of vibrant color and amorphous shapes resembling brushstrokes in the works on display.

"Gallery visitors are welcome to take snapshots and selfies. This way of seeing and enjoying Art provides a real sense of presence in the gallery space as well as the opportunity to socialize and discuss the work with others, who are also present as Avatars."

- Cynthia Goodman, Museum Director, Curator

"By combining the traditional medium of paint with high technological virtual environments, Darcy Gerbarg creates a new narrative around abstract expressionism." Gerbarg incorporates the artifacts of the times, "traces of the technology in the image that then becomes physical."

- Stina Gustafsson, Curator
